So….I kinda have this thing for makeup! I’m not that person that spends $500 in Sephora in one day but I do love to buy and experiment with new products I happen to see on social media or in reading magazines.
So I’ve decided to dedicate a post each month (or bi weekly if my budget allows) of new makeup/beauty products I’ve purchased over the month that I’m crushing on. Will try to make it strictly drugstore products under $15 for those keeping track of their budget. Here’s the January edition
COVERGIRL Peacock Flare Mascara – $7.89
Ya’ll know I love me some Steph and Ayesha Curry so when she officially announced she was a COVERGIRL I was like ‘I’m buying whatever she’s selling!’. I’m just now getting around to buying the mascara but I love it. I don’t have great natural lashes and this mascara gives me the volume I’ve been looking for without having to wear false eyelashes.
Elf Eyebrow Pencil – $2.00
I use to be a faithful ‘MAC Spiked Eyebrow’ pencil but paying $20 on just a pencil each month just wasn’t working for me. I picked this up in Walmart (one of those trips were you go for groceries but find yourself in the makeup aisle) and while it’s not as good as MAC it does a good enough job for me to use when I go to my 9-5. Will still use the MAC pencil when I want my face B.E.A.T but this Elf pencil will help extend the life of my MAC pencil. I used color ‘deep brown’.
Milani Matte Lipstick – $6.29
Milani is my favorite brand for matte lippies – drugstore and high end included. It seems like every time I’m in Target, I have to pick a couple up. Decided to pick up these 2 winter lippies.
I was scrolling thru Instagram and this came across Ayesha Curry’s IG stories. She was using this has a base for a good nude lippie. Looked great on her so I decided to try it. I use it with MAC Chestnut lip liner and it gives me a great nude lip combination. (this lippie is in shade ‘Gelebrity’ in case the photo wasn’t clear enough.
Elf Primer – $5.99
So my all time favorite primer is Smashbox but once again, my budget doesn’t call for $45 primer every month or so. This $5 primer works wonders under my foundation (Clinique Even Better) for my office look during the week. It is a little oily so if you have oily skin, try using witch hazel after washing face to help with your natural oils.
NYX Finishing Powder – $9.99
Ever put on foundation, got all dolled up and a couple hours later you were oily? Yes it could be because you have oily skin but it may be because you’re not finishing your face routine. A setting spray or finishing powder is needed to set your makeup and ensure it stays fresh!
That’s all for January, make sure your subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss all other months!
