To say that my face has been going through a rough patch is an understatement. The last month or so, I’ve been breaking out along my jaw line and nothing seemed to be working. I knew it was time for a trip to Dermatology and Laser Center of Alabama.

My esthetician Nadia was amazing. She started by giving me details on my skin and explaining that breakouts along the jaw line could be a result of hormonal changes or constant touching around that area. For me, it was a combination of both. Though the worse of the breakout was over, it left several dark spots that I was desperate to get rid of or dramatically reduce. After a great cleanse, it was time for the hard stuff:

She suggested a combination chemical peel – 30% salicylic for the acne and glycolic to help even skin tone and texture. I was a little nervous as I had only had glycolic peels in the past so I was unsure how bad it would tingle but as usual, it was an overreaction and the tingle wasn’t that bad.

The peel starts off clear and turns white when drying. She left it on for 5 minutes or so followed by a SkinCeuticals cleanser perfect for combination skin.

After a light sunscreen, it’s time to make my SkinCeuticals Custom D.O.S.E serum.

This custom serum is designed specifically for your skin and skin concerns. My aesthetician chose specific ingredients to address my breakouts, discoloration, and give my skin an overall appearance of smoothness and glow.

I’ve been using my Custom D.O.S.E (twice a day) for about 4 weeks and can definitely tell the difference in my skin tone. My dark spots are a little lighter but the appearance of overall glow of my skin has dramatically improved. I’ll be back in 3 months for a checkup and adjustment to my skincare treatment plan.
