5 Holy Grail Red Lippies
Who doesn't love a good red lip? It's the perfect compliment to a sexy little black dress or an accessory for a casual day out. Red lip is a color that defies age and status. Anyone from any background can flaunt a red lip and be as bold as the woman standing next to them. With the hundreds of red lip options, how can one narrow in on a favorite? Matte lipsticks have become all the rage the last couple of years. It's flat pigment stays on longer than those high shine lip colors. Here are my top 5 lippies (spoiler alert.....most of them are matte lippies) From left to right
Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lip Color - 'Reggae Red'
I love how smooth this lip applies. It's pigmented to work with all skin tones and reasonably priced to work with all budgets.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Crème - 'Monte Carlo'
NYX is one of my favorite cosmetics companies. And they did not disappoint when it came to their matte crème collection. I have most of their lippies in this collection and Monte Carlo is my favorite. It's a true matte so remember to condition and prime lips before applying but this crème has the staying power.
Milani Matte Lipstick - 'Matte Fearless'
Milani is on my list twice for a reason. I love this matte lipstick for a couple of reason. I love the pigment that it provides. It goes on smooth and dries like a matte resulting in the nice bold red look that I'm looking for
Milani Matte Lipgloss - 'Devotion'
I wear this lippie when I know I'm going out to eat or drinks with the girls and still want my lip to be there after all that eating and drinking. Once this lip dries, good luck getting it off. A very good thing when you're drinking at find out there's more lipstick on your glass than still on your lips. I've tried lippies that cost 3-5 times this amount and didn't live up to half the hype.
Mac Cosmetics Matte Lipstick - 'Ruby Woo'
What list is complete without MAC 'Ruby Woo'. Celebrities from Tracee Ellis Ross to Rihanna to Gwen Stefani have been wearing Ruby Woo and is considered the "Queen of all lipsticks". Word of advice, it can get very dry, make sure to apply a primer (using the one from MAC is ideal) before applying the lipstick What are some of your go to red lippies? Leave a comment below...
