Monthly Favorites - Beauty Edition
It's been a minute, how have you guys been? I've been on a little hiatus with trying to start writing a novel (don't give me any appraise. I think I've trashed as many pages as I've written) but now I'm back and ready to give you guys all the insight on my love for beauty, style, food, and travel.
I was doing really well at the start of quarentine with not spending money clothes and shoes because where am I going to show them off? But beauty and skincare, that's another thing. Between PR and my credit card getting the best of me, I need to carve out another section in my linen close to be able to hold my overflow.
These past 4 months have allowed me to give my skin more TLC and being able to try all the makeup products I never would have had the time to try. Here are some things I'm loving lately
I'm a big fan of BlackGirl Sunscreen but was looking for a mattifying sunscreen to put on my face under my makeup. It's lightweight and even though a suncreen, it's able to help with my pores and uneven texture. A bit pricier than a normal sunscreen but so worth it considering it's actively addressing skin concerns while also providing spf 40
This was sent in PR along with their entire Vitamin C collection. I'm using other skincare so haven't gotten around to using them but was able to put this primer to the test. With Vitamins C and E infused with banana powder helps to add a glow to my skin.
There's not anything Rihanna can do that I'm not obsessed with. I'm normally not a fan of anything cream because I feel it makes me look oily but I decided to go for it and try it out. I love the color it provides on my cheeks and give me a light summer glow. Fave color: Rose Latte
I received their 'fast face' collection in PR and was obsessed with their liquid lippies, I immediately went to Target to get more colors. My normal red lip is Milani Cosmetics in color 'devotion'. It's a great matte lippie but very drying. The Lip Bar lippies are also matte and non transferable but a little bit more moisture.
My go to makeup routine has been foundation fee (catch that tutorial here) but when I do have to get full glam to shoot content or the rare occasion me and husband go out to eat (outdoor seating ONLY) I've been using this foundation. It's a great matte and because I'm outside eating (in the South) this is great in keeping my makeup in tac without having to reapply powder or blot any oil around my T zone.
Glossier is one of the brands I found while in quarentine and am loving their products. This boy brow has been a haven in giving me that 'no makeup - makeup routine'. Annoyed that it's only available on their website but I'm slowly learning to live with it.
I was definitely influenced to get this mask. I think Instagram showered my feed with every influencer that was using this product and it worked. I use this for a sleeping mask, when I'm chilling at the house, after I give myself a good lip scrub (needed when you're wearing matte lippies)
I love a red nails, obsessed with red nails, live in red nails. But in the summer, I live to go for more of a nude on my toes. Never been a fan of white but this color from OPI is the perfect nude for my skin tone. I bought both the regular and gel nail polish and take them with me when getting my nails done.
If you've been to Sephora lately, you know the protocol they are going thru in order to shop: limiting the number of people in the store, applying sanitizer to people entering the store, and the big one: DO NOT TOUCH any product that you do not intend to buy. So needless to say, shopping for perfume can be a little stressful. To avoid buying perfume that I don't like, I buy the smaller travel size versions and if I like them, I can commit to the full size versions, if not, I'm only out of $25-$30. This was one of those perfumes where I bought the spray pen and almost immediately bought the full size version. I love the warm floral scent.
